Crowns and bridges are provided when a patient has one or more teeth that are lost or severely damaged. Our crowns and bridges are remarkably strong and sturdy, and they will make it much easier for the user to chew properly and speak. This is because we construct our crowns and bridges from porcelain. Since these are custom-built restorations, a patient must make at least two visits to Glacier Peak Dentistry to receive a crown or bridge. The initial visit involves taking impressions of the existing teeth. A dental laboratory will then use these impressions to create a customized restoration to replace or repair the lost or damaged structure. The patient will return for a follow-up visit to have it installed and fitted once it is ready.
A crown is used to “cap” a damaged tooth. The crown replaces the majority of a tooth with a strong artificial material that can be used for regular chewing. Another application for a crown is to be installed on top of a dental implant and replace a lost tooth entirely. Crowns can even be used as abutments to hold dental bridges. Once a patient has received a crown, they can usually care for the structure just like they would their other teeth.
