Anyone who’s serious about maintaining positive dental health should make sure to receive complete oral regular check ups at least twice per year. Each visit includes an examination, cleaning and other services.
Although at-home brushing and flossing are essential, there are some tasks that can only be completed in a dental office. The best way to get started is with regular check ups. These visits help our experts to gain a complete assessment of a patient’s current oral health and if necessary, establish a personalized plan to help them improve it. Patients can also expect to receive a thorough cleaning that will access difficult-to-reach areas and provide a pleasant sensation of oral freshness. Other services offered with regular check ups include digital X-rays and an oral cancer screening.
Regular check ups are usually the first appointment a patient will make at Glacier Peak Dentistry. We feel that it is very important to obtain a full understanding of a new patient’s dental health and any problems or conditions they might be experiencing. I needed, we will make recommendations for additional treatments and services based on our findings. From there, we will advise the patient to return to us in another six months for their next checkup.

Our dental care experts believe that it is very important to thoroughly examine a patient’s teeth and gums to obtain a basic assessment of their oral health.
A professional cleaning starts with our hygienists carefully scraping away any tartar, calculus and plaque that can cause problems later on. We always know to use a gentle touch to minimize any patient discomfort. Then we cleanse and polish the teeth to fight against staining and bad breath. The patient will surely enjoy the oral freshness that follows a professional cleaning.
Not every oral health issue can be detected with a visual examination alone. Sometimes we need to check beneath the surface for hidden problems. We do this using digital X-rays. The X-raying process is very easy, and it allows us to provide visual images of any conditions the patient may be experiencing. We then take any noteworthy images and upload them to a monitor so that the patient can see the findings for themselves. Some problems and conditions that are frequently detected through digital X-rays include tooth decay, gum disease, jawbone deterioration, cysts and more.
Oral cancer is a serious condition. The patient faces the best chance of successful treatment when the disease is caught early. That is why we take the time to provide a preliminary oral cancer screening during every complete dental checkup. We know exactly what to look for while we check the face, lips, tongue, throat, gums and other soft oral tissues for any signs that could suggest cancer.
